Science Activities
The Science faculty runs several activities during the year, targeted at differing groups of students, to extend and enhance their scientific learning.
Every year in late Term 3, the school plays host to the Skyworks planetarium in the school hall. Year 7 and 9 students are eligible to take an exciting tour of the universe from the comfort and safety of their own school, and learn about the fascinating skies on the way. The science faculty co-ordinates and participates in a Senior Science Day at the College’s Senior Campus in Term 2. Students who are genuinely interested in science from all the College campuses are invited to participate in hands-on science activities, hear involving presentations from active scientists in many fields, and enjoy the CSIRO Cool Science Show as they amaze and amuse. This year, the involvement of lecturers from Macquarie University should make it an event not to miss. - Australian Science Competition
The campus participates in the annual ICAS Science Competition in Term 2. Students can demonstrate their logical thinking, problem solving powers and scientific understanding skills, and receive recognised certificates for their achievements. - Whole College Gifted and Talented Activities
Participation in the wider College community is important in exposing students to members of the wider community. The College science faculties conduct regular cross-campus Science activities, including most recently a trip to the Lucas Heights nuclear research reactor.
